Denza N8 Confirmed for November: 1,003 km Five-Seat Electric SUV With Air Suspension

Denza, the premium brand under BYD, will launch the N8 in China in November with a claimed range of 1,003 km. The car is positioned as a large five-seat electric flagship SUV in the 350,000 yuan class, and its most notable decision is what it leaves out: there is no six-seat or seven-seat version, because Denza has chosen to spend the whole body on five seats.

5,150 mm devoted to five seats

The N8 measures 5,150 mm long on a 3,075 mm wheelbase. With no third row to package, that length goes into legroom, shoulder room and boot space instead, which is the argument Denza is making against rivals that stretch the same footprint over seven seats. Four zero-gravity seats are fitted, and the cabin uses the brand's latest design with a single integrated display panel across the dashboard.

  • Body: 5,150 mm long, 3,075 mm wheelbase
  • Layout: five seats only, no six or seven-seat option
  • Seats: four zero-gravity chairs
  • Platform: e3 EVO architecture with second-generation Blade battery
  • Claimed range: 1,003 km

Air suspension and four-wheel steering

The chassis is where much of the cost sits. Dual-chamber air suspension is fitted, allowing both ride height and spring rate to change, and it is paired with rear-wheel steering to bring the turning circle down to a level appropriate for a car this size in town. Fast charging is supported by the second-generation Blade pack, which Denza says can take a meaningful charge in the time it takes to stop for coffee.

God's Eye 5.0 assistance

Driver assistance comes from BYD's God's Eye 5.0 suite, the latest version of the system now rolling out across the group's premium models, covering highway and urban assisted driving as well as automated parking. Denza has not published full sensor details ahead of the launch event.

A brand repositioned

Denza began as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz and is now run as BYD's premium marque, selling MPVs, saloons and SUVs at prices well above the group's mass-market models. The N8 sits at the top of that range, and its specification is meant to show what the brand can do when it is not competing on price: air suspension, a long-range pack and a cabin built around comfort rather than seat count.

Where it sits in the market

The N8 arrives in one of the most crowded segments in China, against established large electric SUVs and against extended-range rivals that still outsell pure electric cars at this size. Its case rests on three things: a four-figure range claim at a time when most competitors sit near 800 km, a genuinely spacious five-seat cabin, and air suspension at a price where many rivals still use steel springs.

The final price list is due at the November launch. If Denza can undercut the established large electric SUVs while keeping the standard equipment, the decision to drop the third row may look less like a gamble and more like reading the market correctly.
