XPeng has put the MONA L05 on sale in China, opening with five trims priced from 169,800 to 191,800 yuan on a pre-sale basis. The car is the fourth model of the MONA range and the first MONA SUV, and it is pitched squarely at younger buyers as a "first big five-seat SUV".

Petrol and electric at one price
The unusual part of the pricing is that the range-extended version costs exactly the same as the electric one at the entry point. Buyers choose between a 71.1 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate pack rated at 535 km or 635 km on the CLTC cycle, or a 1.5-litre range extender with a 37.2 kWh battery good for 310 km of electric running and 1,310 km in total.
- Body: 4,870 x 1,930 x 1,636 mm, wheelbase 2,940 mm, 87 per cent space efficiency
- Electric: 635 km CLTC, 10-80 per cent charge in 19.1 minutes, 12.2 kWh/100 km
- Range extender: 310 km electric, 1,310 km combined, 5.26 L/100 km when depleted, 10-80 per cent in 14.7 minutes
- Rear legroom 1,063 mm; boot 702 litres expanding to 1,913 litres, plus a 102-litre frunk
Two tiers of self-driving compute
All versions use a single rear motor producing 183 kW, with 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The split comes in assisted driving. Max trims run one Turing AI chip at 750 TOPS with the second-generation VLA Lite model, while Ultra SE trims double that to 1,500 TOPS with the full second-generation VLA, supporting space-to-space navigation and map-free roaming.

A cabin built around screens and a voice agent
Inside, XPeng fits a 17.3-inch 3K central screen, a second 17.3-inch rear screen and a 26.8-inch W-HUD, backed by a 20-speaker audio system and 256-colour ambient lighting. The software layer is the Master Agent on-board assistant, built on XPeng's Omni multimodal base model, which accepts voice, visual and text input and can handle vague requests such as "it feels stuffy in here" or multi-stop itineraries in a single sentence.
Front seats get ventilation, heating and massage, the driver's seat offers 20-way adjustment with active bolstering, and the passenger gets a zero-gravity seat with 14-point massage. Cabin soft-touch coverage is quoted at more than 74 per cent.
Validated for 65 markets
XPeng developed the L05 against a global brief: 660 test cars across 25 countries, cumulative validation mileage beyond 5 million km, and simultaneous left- and right-hand-drive engineering. The company sells in 65 countries and regions, and the car is tuned for Chinese, European and Brazilian fuel grades. Structurally it targets three five-star crash standards, with a 2,000 MPa body structure, seven airbags and 17 standard active-safety functions, and the pack is rated to withstand 55-degree-celsius thermal runaway for 24 hours without fire or explosion.
XPeng staged the launch as a MONA WORLD owner gathering with more than 5,000 owners in Guangzhou, underlining that MONA is now a volume sub-brand rather than a single model.
