All-New Geely Emgrand Up Series Launched Starting from 59,900 RMB, the Iconic Family Sedan Gets Upgraded

As a benchmark model for Geely in the family sedan segment, the Emgrand family has over a decade of heritage, with global cumulative sales exceeding 4.2 million units, earning its reputation as China’s beloved family sedan. On October 25, the all-new Geely Emgrand Up Series officially hit the market. Centered on the “Upward” concept, the new model receives comprehensive upgrades in exterior styling, interior trim, intelligent cabin, powertrain and safety. The limited-time introductory price starts at 59,900 RMB, further lowering the entry threshold for high-quality family sedans and strengthening its competitiveness in the affordable family car market.

The launch event featured a highlight: a first-generation Emgrand with 13 years of service and nearly one million kilometers on the odometer was fully disassembled on-site. The demonstration showcased the condition of its body structure, chassis and engine after long-term use, proving the model’s durability and reinforcing its positioning as a reliable family car while honoring the long-standing positive feedback from Emgrand owners.

In terms of exterior design, the all-new Emgrand Up Series retains the Cosmospheric design language with refined detail adjustments. It adopts Geely’s new silver logo, sharper grille lines and a through-type taillight bar that delivers high recognition when illuminated. A exclusive Glory Gold paint option joins the lineup, alongside existing finishes including Daiwa Grey and Ink White. Built as a compact family sedan, it boasts smooth, well-proportioned body lines that balance domestic aesthetic preferences and aerodynamic performance. Multiple wheel designs are available, with higher trims fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels.

The interior represents the core upgrade of this model. The cabin offers a premium Orange-Black dual-tone “Splendid Front” interior scheme paired with eco-friendly leather seats. Higher-spec versions feature a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat padded with 10mm high-resilience memory foam to ease fatigue on long rides. The dashboard is equipped with a 12.8-inch floating high-definition central control screen plus an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument cluster. The intelligent cabin runs the Flyme Auto 2 system, supporting dual-zone voice interaction, the latest Amap navigation, unlimited cloud storage and mainstream phone connectivity. The system brings notable improvements in operation smoothness and ecosystem richness compared to the outgoing model. Physical buttons are retained for air conditioning and frequently used functions for easy blind operation. Standard comfort features include automatic constant-temperature air conditioning, rear air vents, electronic parking brake and auto hold.

Power comes from a 1.5L inline-four all-aluminum engine across the range, delivering a maximum output of 88 kW and peak torque of 150 N·m. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or an 8CVT. The manual option remains available for budget-focused drivers and enthusiasts who prefer manual control. Optimized with Atkinson cycle technology, the powertrain achieves impressive WLTC fuel economy: the manual variant consumes as low as 5.99 L/100km, while the CVT version returns around 6.1 L/100km. It is tuned for fuel efficiency, smoothness and hassle-free daily commuting and family trips. Built on the BMA modular architecture, the chassis is calibrated for comfort, with suspension tuning well-suited for road conditions across China.

For safety, upper trims are equipped with six airbags, complemented by a high-strength steel body structure, rearview camera and tire pressure monitoring system. Geely balances cost control for the entry-level variant with essential safety standards for family users. Following Geely’s global validation standards, the Emgrand range is sold in more than 30 countries worldwide. It undergoes rigorous durability, high-temperature and cold-climate testing to maintain the consistent quality the nameplate is known for.

Three trim levels are available for the new lineup: the 1.5L 5MT Zhenshang at a limited-time price of 59,900 RMB, the 1.5L 8CVT Zhenshang at 68,900 RMB, and the 1.5L 8CVT Wangchen at 73,900 RMB. A full package of purchase benefits is rolled out alongside the launch, including cash discounts, financial interest subsidies, trade-in allowances and data traffic packages to cut acquisition and running costs.

Positioned in the affordable family sedan segment, the 59,900 RMB starting price puts the all-new Emgrand Up Series head-to-head with competing domestic sedans in the same bracket. At this price point, buyers prioritize fuel efficiency, dependability, low maintenance costs and adequate interior space. Thanks to years of market presence, spare parts are widely accessible and service networks are extensive. The latest upgrade addresses the older model’s weak point — the infotainment system — with a smarter cabin and improved interior quality.

For more than ten years, the Emgrand has stood as a symbol of Chinese family sedans. From the first generation to the new Up Series, it evolves continuously to match users’ real demands. Instead of piling on premium features blindly, it focuses on what family drivers value most: reliability, low fuel consumption, ease of driving and great value for money. With the arrival of the all-new Emgrand Up Series, this iconic Chinese family sedan will continue to capture the entry-level family car market, offering a mature, trustworthy option for budget-conscious shoppers seeking a practical daily ride.
