Oct 18, 2026 — BYD has officially released official images of the all-new third-generation Qin PLUS. The new model has completed MIIT filing and is scheduled to launch in late October. As a national family sedan with over 1.85 million owners, the 3rd-gen Qin PLUS is far more than a minor facelift. It features comprehensive upgrades in body dimensions, exterior styling, powertrain efficiency and intelligent driving, stepping up into a near midsize sedan and resetting benchmarks for affordable PHEV sedans priced between 80,000 and 100,000 RMB.

In terms of exterior design, the 3rd-gen Qin PLUS abandons the iconic large-mouth grille of the outgoing model, adopting a sleek shark-nose tech-focused front fascia with simplified lines, slim sharp headlights and side air deflectors. The car sits lower and longer. Smooth side character lines and a clean rear styling balance practical family-friendly aesthetics with a modern youthful look.
The biggest highlight of this generation upgrade lies in its dimensions. According to MIIT filings, the new sedan measures 4,840mm × 1,900mm × 1,498mm, with a wheelbase of 2,800mm. It grows notably longer and wider compared to the current model. The extended wheelbase greatly boosts cabin space and rear legroom, fixing the common complaint of cramped back seats from existing owners. It delivers midsize-car space at compact-car pricing.

Power comes from BYD’s DM-i Super Hybrid system. The official certified fuel consumption under charge-sustained conditions is as low as 2.58 L/100km, balancing low fuel use for daily commutes and worry-free long-distance travel. Equipped with Blade Battery, the vehicle supports fast charging and vehicle-to-load (V2L) external power discharge for family road trips. A fully electric variant remains available, fitted with a permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering peak power of 100 kW and a top speed of 170 km/h to satisfy diverse buyer demands.
Major improvements arrive on the intelligent front. The 3rd-gen Qin PLUS offers optional God’s Eye B intelligent driving assistance system, equipped with multi-sensor hardware supporting highway NOA and urban assisted driving. The cabin will feature an upgraded DiLink infotainment system with improved touchscreen interaction, faster voice response and richer app ecosystem to meet families’ needs for safety and convenience.

Lu Tian, General Manager of BYD Dynasty Network Sales Division, previously teased the new model on social media, summarizing the updates as “larger size, bigger space, greater possibilities”. The Qin PLUS lineup has long topped China’s PHEV sedan sales chart and acts as BYD’s core volume model. With roomier cabin, lower fuel consumption and newly added advanced driver assistance, the 3rd-gen Qin PLUS targets mainstream households for daily commuting and long-distance road trips.
Full interior photos, detailed trims and official pricing have not yet been fully disclosed; BYD will roll out further information ahead of the launch. Industry analysts expect the arrival of the new Qin PLUS to shake up China’s hybrid family sedan market and further solidify BYD’s leading position in the entry-level plug-in hybrid sedan segment.
